A 15-year-old boy is facing charges for a bomb threat that forced the evacuation of Mayflower Mall in Sydney, N.S. earlier this week.
Police temporarily evacuated the building on Wednesday after receiving a 911 call that a man was in the mall with a handgun and explosives. The caller alleged the man threatened to shoot police officers and detonate the explosives.
Following a thorough search of the mall, police were unable to find a suspect and allowed people back in.
The subsequent police investigation allowed officers to identify the 15-year-old as the person responsible for the call. He was arrested late Thursday afternoon.
The youth is facing charges of uttering threats to cause death or serious bodily harm, uttering threats to damage property, reporting false information to 911, and mischief.
He is expected in court Friday.
