Bloomfield Centre assault on officer nets charges for teens

Two teenage boys are facing charges after one of them allegedly assaulted a police officer during an arrest in north-end Halifax on Thursday morning.

Two teenage boys are facing charges after one of them allegedly assaulted a police officer during an arrest in north-end Halifax on Thursday morning.

At 3:25 a.m., Halifax Regional Police were called to the Bloomfield Centre on Agricola Street after receiving a call from security about two people damaging the building.

When police arrived, the boys tried to run away but were soon arrested after police and a canine unit chased them down.

Police say during the arrest, one of the teens assaulted one of the officers with a spray paint can, resulting in minor injuries.

Both suspects, ages 18 and 16, are facing charges of property damage and at least one of the suspects is facing charges of assaulting police, assault with a weapon, and resisting arrest.
