Blood collection at Capital Health will resume Friday

Routine blood collection services for the Capital Health District have been cancelled for Thursday.

Capital Health says they don't anticipate long lines following closure

Routine blood collection services will resume Friday following cancellations Thursday, says Capital Health.

"Our laboratory information system that all the registrations are input into is down. They were doing some scheduled maintenance overnight and it's taking longer than expected," said John Gillis, Capital Health's spokesman.

Gillis said "hundreds" of people would normally use the service in a day. But they don't expect major crowds following Thursday's closure.

"We anticipate being able to handle the traffic with regular resources," Gillis said.

Anyone requiring urgent tests could still go to the blood collection site and get them done.
