Beach, spray park closure count continues to rise
Several beaches and spary parks will be closed this weekend as the temperature heats up
A combination of beach closures and spray park closures means people in the Halifax region will have a harder time finding a place to cool off this weekend.
High bacteria counts in lakes around Halifax have prompted the closure of several popular beaches in the Halifax Regional Municipality.
High bacteria counts have closed the following beaches:
- Sandy Beach
- Albro Lake
- Long Pond Beach
- Kinsmen Beach
- Black Rock Beach
- Dingle Beach (closed as a precaution)
A number of spray parks throughout the HRM will close at 3 p.m. Friday and remain closed over the weekend due to ongoing work at the Pockwock water transmission main.
Nearly two kilometres of pipeline from the Pockwock water supply has to be replaced, affecting customers on the peninsula and in Clayton Park.
The following spray parks will be closed until 11 a.m. Monday:
- Isleville Street playground
- Westmount on Edward Arab Avenue
- George Dixon Centre
- Spray pad on the Halifax Common
