People spending part of their Heritage Day at the Scotiabank Theatre in Bayers Lake were forced to evacuate the building after a water pipe burst.

Fire alarms went off at around 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

The theatre was closed for several hours as the damage was assessed and cleaned up, said a spokeswoman for Cineplex.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused," Sarah Van Lange said in an email. "Guests with tickets for movies this afternoon will be offered a complete refund."

The theatre reopened at 7 p.m.
