Armed standoff ends peacefully in Lawrencetown
An armed standoff in Lawrencetown ended peacefully Thursday night about five hours after it began, police say.
RCMP spokesman Cpl. Scott MacRae said a 66-year-old man was taken into custody at about 10:40 p.m..
Earlier in the evening, four shots were fired by a man barricaded inside a house on Maple Drive, but no one was hurt, police say.
Residents from nearby houses were evacuated and sent to "a secure location," MacRae said, after the man threatened to shoot officers.
Police were called to the home at about 5:30 p.m. in response to a domestic related incident.
Highway 207 and Maple Drive were closed to traffic during the incident.
The RCMP Emergency Response Team were called in to assist Halifax District RCMP members.
