Armed carjacking, break and enter nets 2 arrests
Car stolen at knifepoint from man at Windmill Road McDonald's
Halifax police have arrested a second suspect in connection with an armed carjacking, and break and enter Friday night in Dartmouth.
Investigators say the 35-year-old victim had his car stolen at knifepoint in the McDonald’s parking lot on Windmill Road. Police later learned the victim's Hammonds Plains home had also been broken into.
Shortly after the break and enter was reported, police located the stolen car in the Lakecrest Drive area of Dartmouth.
Police stopped the vehicle and two people fled on foot.
A short foot chase ensued at that point and one suspect was caught.
In the vehicle, officers found stolen items belonging to the victim.
The second suspect was arrested Saturday morning on Tacoma Drive in Dartmouth.
Police believe the target of these crimes was deliberately chosen.
A 41-year-old man is facing robbery, break and enter charges, and one charge of assaulting a police officer. He is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth court on Monday.
