A dog is dead and an investigation is pending after RCMP and animal services were called to a Hammonds Plains, N.S. home Sunday morning.
RCMP were called to a home on Weaver Court Sunday morning to help animal control officers after they received reports that a dog was hanging by its neck from a leash tied to a wooden deck.
"It looks like the dog managed somehow to get through the spindles or rails of the deck and unfortunately hung by its leash," said RCMP Cpl. Scott MacRae
Animal services is investigating the dog’s death and have placed a referral to the SPCA for further follow up.
"Unfortunately anytime an animal loses its life — it looks at first this could be a freak accident but further follow up will be necessary. Unfortunately a husky lost its life and it just reminds the public the importance to always … look at what your dogs may be doing," said MacRae.
"Hopefully maybe future incidents can be prevented."
