Four people escaped a fire that burned the front of a rooming house on Agricola Street early Sunday morning.

When fire crews arrived around 1:20 a.m. three people had made it out on their own, but one person was still inside at the back of the house.

Crews made the rescue through a window near the rear of the house using a ladder.

One tenant wasn't home at the time of the fire.

The Canadian Red Cross said it is assisting with emergency shelter.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The CBC's Steve Berry spotted the burning building and filmed part of the rescue.
