There’s rain in the weekend forecast. But don’t let a little dampness keep you inside. We’ve found five great reasons to get outside with Dad this weekend.

Run, Dad, Run!  The grand-daddy of all Father’s Day running events is the Johnny Miles Running Event Weekend, on this year for its 39th year. It’s a two-day event. On Saturday you can take part in a walk for all ages. That’s followed by a fun run for kids. On Sunday, there’s a marathon and half-marathon as well as five kilometre and 10 kilometre runs.  Find more info here:

If you’re in Sydney, check out the Zombie Fun Run Saturday at 11 a.m. It’s a five kilometre event starting from the Southend Community Centre. Registration is $10 per runner. Because really, nothing says “I love you, Dad,” like a run with zombies.

Play On! Hockey season isn’t over yet. Head down to the Halifax Common area  for some of the best street hockey around. You’ll find dozens of teams all playing at once. Streets will be closed for this. The tournament runs Saturday and Sunday.

It’s all at  Memory Lane Heritage Village starting at 10 a.m. There’s an entry fee of $5. Children under 12 are admitted for free.

Opa!  You know it’s summer in Halifax when Greek Fest gets underway.  Enjoy dancing, delicious foods  event Greek Wine tasting sessions.  It’s just a short drive out the Purcell’s Cove Road to the Greek Orthodox Church —or better yet, take the #15 bus.  Greek Fest runs through Sunday.
