With autumn approaching, it's a good idea to get as much fun out of summer as you can.
Here are five fun things to do this weekend in Nova Scotia:
Note: Summer of Sandra screening of Speed cancelled for Friday night.
1. Halifax's 8th annual Seaport Beerfest
"Beer on the Pier" is back this year at the Cunard Centre. Touted as "Atlantic Canada's largest gathering of craft beer, imports and cider," those over the legal drinking age can drink their fill of up to 275 different beverages.
Among the specialty booths this year will be a new booth dedicated to cask ales.
Beerfest runs Friday between 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., and Saturday between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., then again between 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
2. Dutch Mason Blues Festival
Truro's got a case of the blues.
The 10th annual Dutch Mason Blues Festival kicks off at 7 p.m. on the Truro Raceway and Exhibition Grounds.
There will be many awesome acts to catch during the three-day festival, including members of Santana, and former David Bowie guitarist Wild T and the Spirit.
3. Cape Breton Island's 2014 Pride Festival
The Pride festival begins Friday at noon with a flag raising at Sydney's Civic Centre. It continues Friday evening with the Diva Delights Drag Show, followed by the Gender Bender Dance Party.
Saturday at noon, the Pride Parade will weave its way throughout downtown Sydney. For a full listing of this year's Pride events, click here.
4. Roller derby double-header
Check out the Anchor City Rollers on Saturday for a roller derby birthday bash, celebrating four years of derby action.
The first game starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Shannon Park Arena in Dartmouth as the Halifax Black Rock Bandits take on the Halifax Dead Ringers. Then stay for a second bout as the Riptide Rollers take on the Kickin Vixens.
5. Spring Garden Children's Festival
On Saturday, take the kids down to Victoria Park between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The park will be "filled with activities for the young and the young at heart."
There will be a bouncy castle, a train to ride, and the chance to climb aboard a firetruck. For more information, click here.
