5 fun things to do in Nova Scotia this spring weekend
The weather finally matches our desire to be outside
With good weather in the forecast almost as far as you can see, this feels like the first real weekend of summer. So get out of the house already.
There are several events in the Run Nova Scotia calendar this weekend. On Saturday, you can check out the Doctors Nova Scotia Youth Run in Sydney. It starts at the Cruise Pavilion starting at 9:30 a.m.
2. Discover candy cane trolls
On Sunday, drive out to Sugar Moon Farm in Earltown for a race they’re calling “Maple Sugar Rush 2: Revenge of the Candy Cane Troll. You’ll run through the woods on the Rogart Mountain Trail. There’s a 6.2 kilometre route and a 12 kilometre race.
3. Horse power
Do you love horses as much as we do? Then come on down to Bell Road in Halifax Sunday for the 2014 edition of the Downtown Horse Show. They’re shutting down the street for the day starting at 9 a.m. Equestrians from across the province will be in town to show off their prize ponies and to compete in the show ring. Everyone is welcome.
4. Spring cleaning
Sunday is also the day for the annual cleanup at McNabs Island. You just never know what winter might leave behind. The event is free, but you’ll have to register to participate. Call Faye at 443-1749 or Cathy at 434-2254.
5. In full bloom
The 82nd annual Annapolis Blossom Festival is on this weekend in the Annapolis Valley. Saturday is a great day to take the kids to Memorial Park in Kentville. You’ll find bouncy castles, face painting, a reptile show -- even helicopter rides (for a fee).
