A fuel truck has overturned on Pleasant Street and is leaking approximately 5,000 litres of furnace oil, according to Halifax fire.
Halifax Regional Fire Services Division Commander Mike Blackburn said his crews received the call just before 9 a.m. AT.
"It appears the vehicle may have hit black ice," he said.
Blackburn said the spill has been contained.
Officials with the Nova Scotia Environment Department have been called in to help clean up.
Police have reopened the Dartmouth street to traffic. Officers said they'll direct traffic until the truck is moved.
