Seven students were injured Monday afternoon, including four who were taken to hospital, when the school bus they were riding in stopped abruptly on the Bedford Highway to prevent an accident.
The mishap occurred at the intersection of the Bedford Highway and Larry Uteck Boulevard. Police believe a vehicle in front of the school bus made an illegal U-turn, which forced the bus to stop abruptly.
"We have a good description of the vehicle, along with the plate number, so we're attempting to locate the vehicle at this time," said Cst. Pierre Bourdages, a spokesperson for Halifax Regional Police.
People who saw the incident are asked to contact police. The police contact number listed on its website is 490-5016.
Four of the students were taken by ambulance to the IWK Health Centre, all with minor injuries.
There were about 40 students on the bus.
The students attend École Beaubassin, a primary to Grade 5 school located on Larry Uteck Boulevard.
Police have not said how old the children are.
