Four people were injured Saturday when their car flipped on the South Bar highway in Cape Breton.

Cape Breton Regional Police said the car was on its roof in the middle of the road when officers arrived just before 7 p.m.

There were three females and one male in the car, ranging in age from 17 to 21. All are from Sydney. A 17-year-old girl was driving.

All four were taken to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Police said the most serious injuries included broken bones and a head injury.

"All are expected to recover," police said in a release.

The investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
