One man was sent to hospital early Sunday morning after he was attacked by up to 20 young men in Dartmouth.

The confrontation happened on Victoria Road, around 12:35 a.m.

Halifax Regional Police say the injured man was out with four other people when they were punched and kicked by the larger group.

The attackers stole a backpack, which was later found by the K-9 unit.

Police believe this was a random attack. No arrests have been made.

Police describe the attackers as a group of 15-20 black men in their late teens or early twenties.

The victim may have a concussion. The other victims had minor injuries.
