Two women are in hospital in Halifax after they were both stabbed by the same man in an apartment on Gottingen Street Saturday afternoon.

Police said a man entered an apartment in the 2000 block of the street just before 2:37 p.m.

One woman was stabbed once, but the other had several stab wounds.

The male suspect then fled the scene.

The women, aged 19 and 31, were taken to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said they are now trying to track him down and interviewing the victims who remain in hospital.

They said they don't think the stabbing was a random act.
