Two men were seriously hurt in an ATV accident in Sydney, N.S., Saturday night.

The crash happened at the corner of Victoria Road and East Broad Way at 8:15 p.m. Two men, aged 26 and 24, were on the vehicle.

"The vehicle struck the curb on the road and a guide wire that had been attached to a utility pole," said Staff Sgt. Paul Muise.

"Both males received serious injuries as a result of the accident."

The men were treated in a Sydney hospital; one of the men was transported to Halifax for further treatment.

Police said such vehicles aren't licensed for the road, but drivers occasionally use main roads to get between trails.
