2 men charged with stealing Eastlink cable
Search is on for 3rd suspect
Two homeowners from Shelburne County, N.S., face charges after allegedly stealing Eastlink cable television, according to police.
RCMP said they searched two homes on Friday after someone tipped them off that two men were charging people to illegally connect the television service.
A 21-year-old man and a 39-year-old man, who live in different houses on Clements Street, are both facing theft of telecommunications charges.
The two homeowners were charged because they were allegedly benefiting from stolen cable, but police said they believe someone else did the actual tampering.
Police are still searching for that person.
RCMP Const. Matthew Conn said someone would "tamper with the cable boxes that were attached to the side of their houses, or on the poles at the front of their houses."
"They were tampering with these boxes and therefore bypassing the security measures that Eastlink cable had in place, and providing the residences with cable television," he said.
Both men will appear in court in October.
