Two people died in a car crash on Nova Scotia's Highway 102 Friday afternoon.

RCMP said the crash happened between Exit 5A and Exit 4 near the airport at 1:47 p.m.

Cpl. Scott MacRae said the car may have gone into an over-correction before it left the road.

"Preliminary investigation reveals the car lost control, left the roadway, ended up overturning in the ditch," he said. "As a result, there was extensive damage to the vehicle."

The man was trapped under the car and died. A woman who was a passenger in the vehicle, was removed from the car but also died of her injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision. There were no other passengers in the car.

A traffic analyst was brought in to help determine the official cause. The highway was closed inbound while RCMP investigated the scene.
