CBC Nova Scotia has received two nominations for this year's Canadian Screen Awards.
CBC News at Six has been nominated as Canada’s best local newscast.
Reporter Elizabeth Chiu is nominated in the best reportage category for her coverage of the Rehtaeh Parsons story.
Rehtaeh's story gained international attention last year after the Cole Harbour teen was taken off life support after attempting suicide a few days before.
According to Rehtaeh's mother, four boys sexually assaulted her daughter when she was 15. Rehtaeh was then said to have been mocked by classmates, enduring relentless harassment and humiliation after a photo of the attack was circulated at school and on social media.
The Canadian Screen Awards — a merger of the Gemini Awards and the Genie Awards — are handed about annually by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.
The awards recognize excellence in Canadian television, film and digital productions.
