A 34-year-old driver faces a $176.45 ticket after backing into a pedestrian in Bedford this morning, according to Halifax police.

SpokespersonConst. Pierre Bourdages says the driver backed out of a private driveway on Rockmanor Drive around 11:50 a.m. and hit an 84-year-old man who was walking on the side of the road.

He was knocked to the ground and taken to hospital by ambulance, but police say his injuries aren't serious.

The driver was issued a ticket for backing a vehicle when unsafe. If convicted the ticket adds two demerit points on a driver’s licence.
