More than one hundred Nova Scotia government employees will know within a month whether their jobs are being outsourced.
Earlier this week, 110 public sector workers who manage human resources, payroll and purchasing throughout government were told their jobs could be privatized.
Since 1996, the province has spent over $100 million on the SAP information management system. The program now manages human resources, payroll purchasing throughout government, including hospitals.
The government is now considering outsourcing management of the system as part of a job creation scheme proposed by the unidentified company.
The operation would be based in Halifax with a satellite office in Sydney.
Michelle Lucas, spokeswoman for Nova Scotia's Department of Finance, said the government was presented with an opportunity from a multinational IT firm last year.
About 75 of the workers at finance are unionized, but 45 at health are not.
The government said they will be offered work if the deal goes ahead.
