One person is dead after a vehicle crash on Highway 14 between Martock and Smith's Corner, according to Nova Scotia RCMP.

Police are investigating two separate crashes on that stretch of highway.

It started with a rollover around 7 a.m. RCMP Sgt. Andy Kerr said as Windsor police arrived on the scene, they came upon another crash.

The second collision involved three vehicles. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

He said responders have no idea how many other people might be hurt. Kerr said one of the accidents involves a tractor-trailer.

A collision reconstructionist will examine the scene.

Police have shut down that section of the highway. It's expected to be closed until approximately 1:30 p.m.

One accident also lead to a power outage between Windsor and Chester. Power has since been restored.
