One person is dead and another was airlifted to hospital after a crash in the Annapolis Valley this afternoon.

RCMP said they were called to a single vehicle crash at 4:40 p.m. on Cambridge Road in Cambridge Station, N.S., between Coldbrook and Waterville.

The vehicle left the road and hit a large tree.

When officers arrived at the scene, the driver of the car was dead. Emergency crews removed the passenger who was then airlifted to hospital in Halifax.

Police remain at the scene and are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the crash.

Both victims are male, one 17 years old, the other 18 years old.

Police can't confirm which lost his life, only that he was the driver.
