The Canadian Avalanche Centre is warning people to stay out of Yukon's backcountry as the recent warmer temperatures and snowfall could result in elevated avalanche danger over the next few days.

The centre says a change in weather could affect the existing weak snow layers and set off avalanches. Those can also be triggered by skiers, snowmobiles or other activities.

The centre is warning Yukoners to avoid the backcountry for a few days. It's hoping expected cooling and more snowfall will allow the snowpack to stabilize.
