Yukon government inspectors have fined a propane retailer $4,000 for working without permits.

Super Save Propane pleaded guilty to the charges this week in territorial court.

The fine covers two separate incidents, one in Carmacks and one in Dawson City, where propane tanks were installed without permits.

Doug Badry, director of building safety for the Yukon Government, says territorial law requires certified technicians and tradespeople working with valid permits to install propane gas storage tanks, piping and gas-fired appliances.

"There can be serious danger to occupants and property holders," he said.

Badry said it's the first time his office has gone to court over permitting violations.
