Yukon's Economic Development Minister is travelling to Fort McMurray, Alberta for the Northern Development Minister's Forum.

The annual event focuses on the future of energy development and sustainability in Canada's North. Alberta and Saskatchewan are co-hosting the event, but Currie Dixon says Yukon will have a voice too.

"Each year we come up with three priority projects and a different jurisdiction will take the lead on them," Dixon said. "Yukon is taking the lead on the information and communication technology project this year. So we'll be presenting our report demonstrating how information and communication technology can be done in remote regions and how it can impact economies in those areas."

Dixon says the ministers will also focus on housing in remote areas and benefit agreements between First Nations and resource companies.

The meetings run Monday through Wednesday in Fort McMurray.
