Stephen Frost is an elder from the community of Old Crow, Yukon, which is located in northwestern Yukon.
He was born April 5, 1933.
He grew up spending much time out on the land hunting, trapping and fishing in traditional Vuntut Gwitchin territory. He's a longtime booster of Gwitchin culture, often displaying clothing made of caribou and other skins. He also takes visitors to his fish camp located at the mouth of the Blue Fish River, just downstream from Old Crow.
In the past, Frost spent much of his time racing sled dogs at the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous in Whitehorse and races throughout Alaska.
He's been an ambassador for his people and believes the land and animals need to be protected for future generations.
He worked for years at the community’s health centre and he also maintained the air strip.
Frost married Ethel Peter, and the couple has 11 children.
