Yukon emergency officials want those affected by flooding last week to register with social services, and to submit a list of what was damaged or lost in the flood.

Officials are also asking residents affected by flooding in Rock Creek and Ross River to register in case they suffer any losses.

Michael Templeton, the manager of the Yukon Emergency Measures Organization, said it is not a compensation program, but is meant as relief — similar to the role the Red Cross would play in other areas.

Templeton said they will head out to do assessments this week.

"When the Yukon government damage assessment team heads out to the communities, then we want to know who has had damage or impacts and where they are," said Templeton.

He said that will allow them to do more thorough assessments, and also ensures they aren't missing anyone.

The information is available on the Emergency Measures Organization website.
