Yukon has dropped out of the top 10 in a global ranking of mining-friendly jurisdictions.

In a survey released Monday by the Fraser Institute the Yukon is now ranked 19th in the attractiveness of their policies as perceived by mining companies.  The territory had been ranked in the top 10 for the two years previous.  Alberta is ranked the third most mining-friendly location in the world and first in Canada.

Nunavut is ranked 44th, down from 37th last year, and the Northwest Territories is 47th, the lowest ranking of a Canadian province or territory, down from 29th last year.

The results are based on input from almost 700 mineral exploration and mining company executives.
