Yukon appoints new medical council
Members of former council all resigned in protest last month
A new Yukon Medical Council has been appointed.
Community Services Minister Elaine Taylor made the announcement Monday morning.
Dr. Robert Zimmerman will chair the new council and former Whitehorse mayor Bev Buckway will sit as a public member.
All six members of the former council resigned last month. The members said they did not have the resources, including money, to fulfill their responsibilities.
The council is responsible for certifying physicians so they can practice in the territory.
