Two Yellowknifers are being recognized by the Alberta and N.W.T. branch of the Lifesaving Society for a rescue earlier this year on Great Slave Lake.

This past spring, a dog musher was pulled from Yellowknife Bay after he and his dogs went through a patch of thin ice.

Five of the seven dogs were saved.

Shawne Kokelj and Victor Waugh will receive Society Rescue and Commonwealth Service awards from the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta at a ceremony in Edmonton Thursday afternoon.
