Yellowknifer recreates Gold Range Hotel in Lego

Yellowknifer John Henderson and his nine-year-old daughter recently made a replica of the city's iconic Gold Range Hotel and Bar in Lego.

After adding the finishing touches, he turned it into a desk lamp.

His next idea is to recreate the Robertson headframe, another iconic feature of the Yellowknife cityscape but one whose days may be numbered..

"For anybody outside of Yellowknife, it would probably look like a red white and blue box, but anybody in Yellowknife is going to instantly recognize what it is," Henderson says.

"If we could make something functional out of it, we could give it a life, whether it has a life in the next few years or not."
