Yellowknife RCMP arrested a suspect charged with attempted murder Wednesday morning after getting a tip as to where he was hiding.

RCMP asked for the public’s assistance Tuesday in finding Tyson Ruben-Bucher, 18, who has been charged in connection with the stabbing of a 44-year-old man at the Fort Gary apartments on Gitzel Street last week.

Police said investigators arrested Ruben-Bucher at a residence in Yellowknife where he was hiding out, after they received information from the public.

Ruben-Bucher is charged with attempted murder and failure to comply with a recognizance. He is scheduled to make a court appearance on Dec. 7.

Four other people have been charged in relation to the stabbing.

Dean Ruben, 22, and a 17-year-old male who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act are also facing charges of attempted murder. Nancy Ruben, 38, and another 17-year-old male have been charged with aggravated assault.

Police say this was not random incident and there is no concern for public safety.
