Yellowknife RCMP seek suspect in Range Lake Road stabbing

Yellowknife RCMP are investigating two stabbings that happened on Sunday, one outside the Shell gas station and one at Fort Gary apartments on Gitzel Street.

Man stabbed while trying to break up a fight outside gas station

Yellowknife RCMP are investigating two stabbings that happened over the weekend.

Police were called to the Shell gas station on Range Lake Road at around 2 a.m. Feb. 14, after a man was stabbed outside the gas station while attempting to break up a fight involving two other men.

The victim was able to get away from the fight and was not seriously injured.

Police are looking for a male suspect between 5 feet, 10 inches and six feet tall, with an average build and wearing a grey and black plaid jacket.

RCMP are reviewing surveillance video. 

2nd stabbing

Police were called to the scene of a second stabbing at the Fort Gary apartments on Gitzel Street around 7:15 p.m.

They found a woman with an apparent stab wound, who was then taken to Stanton Territorial Hospital by paramedics. Police say an adult female suspect left the apartment before police arrived. Police say the victim and the suspect knew each other.

Police are still investigating the incident. No charges have been laid yet.
