Yellowknife power outage traced to Jackfish Lake

Officials say the power outage in Yellowknife and Behchoko last night originated at the Jackfish Lake substation.

Officials say the power outage in Yellowknife and Behchoko last night originated at the Jackfish Lake substation.

The blackout started just before 5 p.m. Thursday.

According to a press release from the Northwest Territories Power Corporation "switch gear" that operates a major transformer failed.

Repairs to the switch were made last night.
