The Northern Arts and Cultural Centre will start serving alcoholic drinks to theatre goers via a cafe this season.
Among many changes planned by the NACC this season is the opening of a cafe. The NACC Candle Ice cafe will serve beer and wine in addition to the regular soft drinks and other refreshments.
That's a departure from recent years, when NACC patrons haven't been allowed to purchase alcoholic drinks on site. Patrons can also purchase cheese trays with optional sides of charcuterie, chutney, and baguettes.
"We are going to bring back the alcohol and different treats to [sell] as well," NACC's executive director Marie Coderre says. "We are going to have pre-event concerts for only the NACC productions. So from 6:30 to 7:30 people can come and have a drink and enjoy the performance in the lobby."
The curtain raises on the 2013 season on Sept. 13, and the NACC has revamped its website in anticipation of that. The new website launches today.
