A Yellowknife cyclist is back at the UCI Road World Championships this year. It's Denise Ramsden's second year competing for Canada, but her first competing in a race where she'll cycle alongside her teammates.

Ramsden usually does individual races, and says there's a different feeling to competitions that involve team work.

"It's different than a time trial where if you don't have a good day, then you're just disappointed in your own performance. But here, having a bad day impacts the team's performance very directly, so I think that part makes it a bit more nerve-wracking," Ramsden says.

That team competition happens Sunday. But Ramsden is also cycling by herself in a 22-kilometre race on Tuesday and a 140-kilometre race later next week.

The world championships in Toscana, Italy will mark the end of Ramsden's cycling season.
