Yellowknife builds outdoor gym in city park
Low-impact workout stations aimed at keeping adults active
The City of Yellowknife has built an outdoor gym at Olexin Park across from the Coast Fraser Tower.
The outdoor equipment has low impact workout stations including an elliptical machine, a bench for sit-ups and bars for pull-ups.
They are designed for people to use their own body weight as resistance.
Mayor Mark Heyck says so far it's been a hit.
"The feedback we've been receiving has been absolutely remarkable," he said.
"I think that there's a very good chance, if it holds up well throughout the winter, then we will look at holding some budget items for future years at other parks."
