The Workers Safety and Compensation Commission of the N.W.T. is investigating the death of a toddler struck by a truck in Yellowknife's industrial area in May.
Sana'a Michael Christensen-Blondin, 2, was in the yard of the Paul Brothers welding company in the Kam Lake area when a company truck struck him.
The RCMP investigated and no criminal charges were laid. The WSCC is looking at what caused the accident to happen and ways to prevent it in the future.
"The last thing we ever want to do is take action against somebody that doesn't deserve it," says Steve Moss, vice-president of prevention services for WSCC. "We have to make sure we're doing our work properly before we get to the stage of holding somebody accountable,"
The commission has the right to lay charges under the territory's Safety Act.
Moss says it's hard to predict when the investigation could be complete.
