A Whitehorse woman who stole a bottle of vodka and then threw it at a store clerk has been convicted for theft and assault with a weapon.
Jamie Lee Gatensby, 28, will be sentenced in territorial court next month.
In September 2011, Gatensby walked into the Roadhouse Off Sales store and asked for a bottle of vodka. Friends waited outside in her idling car.
The court was told how, after her debit card failed, Gatensby walked out with the vodka pursued by an angry clerk.
She eventually threw him the bottle which bounced off his shoulder and smashed in the parking lot.
The clerk testified that when he stood in front of her vehicle to block her escape, Gatensby drove into him, injuring his ankle.
At trial this week, Gatensby admitted the theft, but denied the assaults.
Judge John Faulkner ruled her version of the events unbelievable and found her guilty of assault with the bottle, dangerous driving, and theft. Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 19.
