A Whitehorse woman has been charged with kidnapping, robbery, pointing a gun and other charges after an incident on Friday.
The woman is alleged to have kidnapped a man at gunpoint from his home and taken him to a cash machine where he was forced to withdraw money for her. The man then escaped from her vehicle and called police.
RCMP Const. Dean Hoogland said the gun was later found to be a replica.
"To him, it appeared to be a real firearm and it was later through the investigation it was to be determined to be a replica firearm, a type of BB gun, that was hard for him to distinguish from the real thing," he said.
The police say the man and his alleged attacker were acquainted.
Stacey Burke, 40, is scheduled to appear court on Sept. 12.
