A teenage girl has died in Whitehorse after being found unconscious in the snow the morning after Halloween.
A resident of the Kopper King subdivision found the 15-year-old at 7 a.m. Police and paramedics rushed the girl to hospital. She was pronounced dead nearly six hours later.
"For whatever comfort we can provide to the family at this time the coroner’s service is just sending our condolences to the family and friends of this young woman and looking to provide answers to them," said Yukon coroner Kirsten Macdonald.
The coroner said no official cause of death can be determined until toxicology tests are completed.
The girl’s name is not being released.
Staff at the Whitehorse school she attended said grief counsellors, community volunteers and First Nation elders are at the school today to help students.
The RCMP do not suspect foul play.
