Whitehorse resident caught raising chickens
Petition circulating to legalize poultry
A Whitehorse resident has been issued a warning after her neighbours complained that she was keeping chickens in her backyard.
Bylaw officers gave Kristina Calhoun two weeks to get rid of the animals or face a $75 fine.
However, a petition is making its way around Whitehorse urging council to allow raising chickens within the city. Officials say they will delay any punishment until councillors have weighed in.
Calhoun will appear before council Tuesday night.
