Whitehorse RCMP warn public of sexual offender
Police say Christian James Gallen is considered at high-risk to re-offend
Whitehorse RCMP are warning the public of a sexual offender living in the city and considered a high risk to re-offend.
The Community Notification of High Risk Offenders Advisory Committee notified police that Christian James Gallan was recently released from custody and is living in Whitehorse.
In a press release, RCMP say it’s in the public interest to release Gallan’s whereabouts — to raise community awareness and enhance public safety.
Gallan served 21 months in jail for the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl in 2009.
Last year, he was sentenced to five months in jail after he exposed himself at the Gold Rush hotel.
Gallan, 37, is under a probation order until Dec. 17, 2014. Under the conditions, he is to keep the peace, abstain from drugs and alcohol and stay out of bars. He is also prohibited from possessing any firearms.
