The Whitehorse RCMP have charged a 19-year-old man with attempted murder in connection with a shooting over the weekend.

Police say Aaron Deep Purewal resides in Whitehorse, but is not a Yukon resident.

A 49-year-old man remains in stable condition at the Whitehorse General Hospital after being shot early Sunday morning.

The shooting happened in a home in the Granger subdivision of Whitehorse, around 3 a.m. Sunday.

RCMP Const. Christine Grant said it’s believed the shooting was drug-related.

Purewal will appear in court again on April 24 to answer to the charges. He's being held in custody until then.
