Fredericton Junction is running out of water, prompting the mayor to ask the 600 residents to conserve or face a crisis.
Gary Mersereau say the reason for the shortage is still a mystery. "All of a sudden, in January, we noticed a big increase in demand. And we can't really find out why yet. We're still searching for that. And in the meantime, we noticed our well is not recharging as fast as it used to," says the mayor.
Mersereau says if people don't cut back, the village will ration water to give the well time to replenish.
The village says it needs to find a new water supply, and Mersereau plans to lobby the province for the cash to drill a new well.
