An Iqaluit woman attacked in the city earlier this month has died. Now the man charged with assaulting her could face more charges.
50-year-old Pitseolak Peter made a brief appearance Monday at the Nunavut Court of Justice in Iqaluit. On February 3rd, it's alleged Peter severely assaulted the woman in a residence in the city. She was flown to Ottawa for treatment.
Peter was also charged after the incident with failing to comply with a probation order.
The court was informed Monday the victim had died as a result of her injuries. Police are not yet releasing her name. Peter will appear in court again on March 5th.
