A United Airlines flight made an unscheduled stop at Whitehorse Airport Monday night.

United spokesperson Charlie Hobart says Flight 1651 was on a scheduled flight from Chicago to Anchorage, but the plane encountered strong head winds en route.

Hobart says the crew opted to make a stop in Whitehorse for extra fuel.

The flight arrived about an hour and 45 minutes late in Anchorage without further incident.
